We sat down with Akemy Hashiguti this week to find out what she does at Glenman.
What is your job title?
My job title is Graduate Design Coordinator.
How long have you been working for Glenman?
I have been working for Glenman since November 2021.
Tell us a little bit about your professional and educational background.
I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering in Brazil and moved to the UK after completing my degree. I completed work experience with Jillian Lilico, Head of Bids and Social Value at Glenman in September last year and after the successful completion of my work experience I was offered the opportunity to join Glenman as a Graduate Design Coordinator.
What is a typical day in Glenman like for you?
It’s very interesting! I work closely with Eddie Conlon, Design Manager, and each day we have new design challenges to resolve, ensuring the design information complies with all of the employer’s requirements, contractor’s proposals, building regulations and making sure each member of the design team is on the same page.
Tell us about an interesting project you have worked on since joining Glenman?
I have been working on the Penry Street project which consists of a mixed-use building with three retail units on the ground floor level and 24 flats, it will be built mainly with precast concrete elements on a tiny site making this a very unique project.
Tell us about your hobbies!
I am really into reading many different kinds of books! I also like spending quality time with my family and friends. I have also just started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu lessons and I am looking forward to increasing my level of technical knowledge!
